Dragonlords
Chaper 83

Bast stopped as the dragon left him behind, turning back to the valley entrance and running back. He ran smack into the barrier and fell back.

There was a small sigh from behind Bast, followed by a low growl. “Really Demi, you are quite stupid.” Came Aurixel’s voice, Vutia landing behind him and looking at Bast with a smirk. She still had burns on her body, but they seem to have been treated well enough.

Bast was on his feet and turned to face Aurixel with a low growl. “You again.” He took out his sword. “You’re making that dragon bring back Jing right now!”

“Was not my plan. I was mearly told to keep out of the way until she was taken. I did not think you would be stupid enough to show yourself as well, all on your own. But it makes my job easyer.” He said, moving his staff forward a little as a bolt of lightning shot at the Kankiru.

Bast jumped to one side, managing to barely miss the bolt, and moved forward to attack with his sword.

Aurixel sighed, forming a fireball to shoot at Bast. “Just make this easy for me Demi.”

Bast slashed at the fireball, but received some damage still. He thrust forward though, and barreled into Aurixel, attempting to throw him down.

Aurixel stumbled back in shock, but swung his tail forward to try and stab the Kankiru.

Bast didn’t block, instead using his sword to stab downward at Aurixel’s shoulder, half sitting on the zafara.

Aurixel let out a cry of pain as his sholder was stabbed and he was forced back to the ground. Vutia moved then, bringing her tail around like a whip to his Bast and get him off of Aurixel.

Bast yelped as he was slammed off Aurixel, sword yanked out of the zafara’s shoulder as Bast flew into a rock wall, falling to the ground limply. His sword lay a few paces between him and Aurixel.

Aurixel groaned in pain, sitting up and bringing a hand to his bleeding sholder. “Lets get a move on before any of his friends show.” Vutia said angerly. Nodding the bori stood, picking up his staff before forming a bubble of energy around Bast to pick him up and bring him forward.

Bast gave a groan as he stirred, sitting up painfully and glaring at them as he saw the bubble. “Not these blasted bubbles again…” He cursed, punching the bubble.

As before the bubble held strong, floating up just above Vutia’s back as Aurixel climbed on her, which was a little hard with his sholder. “Lets get moving now.” He said as the black dragon started to take to the sky.

Bast watched with impotent rage as he was carried off, glancing towards the forest in hopes someone was coming to their rescue soon. But it seemed Cade must be farther from the barrier, or was too busy to help. He scowled, sitting up and fumbling beneathe his shirt. He extracted the amulet he wore, and took it off, wrapping the leather necklace over his wrist, he grasped the dragon amulet in his hand, then pressed it against the bubble’s bottom. On contact, the bubble began to sizzle and spark. He smirked, glancing at Aurixel as he continued to use the holy amulet, which he’d had blessed by Iris, and was already blessed by dragon magic, to break through the magic.

Aurixel didn’t notice anything off the bat, preoccupied with his pained sholder. Vutia just continued to fly farther from the forest, and not caring to look at Bast, or to level out her flight quickly for Aurixel who was having a hard time treating his sholder while on dragonback. The bori finally looked to the side though at Bast, feeling something off with the magic. “Great…” He muttered before sending a shock through the inside of the bubble to try and knock the Kankiru out.

Bast cried out in pain, jerking in the bubble and falling back. He groaned, and moved his hand again to press the amulet against the bubble.

“Just stop what ever you are doing Demi. I would prefure not to do this.” Aurixel muttered before another shock went through the bubble.

Bast yelped, and his body went limp. The amulet however, slipped out of his hand and made contact with the ubble, disrupting it’s magic further.

Aurixel shook his head a little, bringing the bubble closer so he could take his hand through it and grab… what ever was causing the problem, away from Bast. “You really should have just listened… I don’t enjoy seeing anyone hurt.” He muttered quietly, to make sure Vutia didn’t hear.

It took a bit of handling to grasp the amulet away from Bast, wrapped as it was around his wrist. But just as he managed to get hold of it and pull it away, it’s contact burning at his skin like a tingle of electricity, there was a challenging roar from the sky above them, and light glinted off bronze scales as a dragon swooped down to attack them.

Aurixel winced as he touched the amulet, trying to hold into it someway that would stop the shock. Vutia looked up at the roar, and moved quickly in the sky to dodge the bronze dragon coming towards her. Roaring out in responce she then brought out a breath of acid towards the metalic dragon.  Aurixel nearly fell off Vutia at her sudden movment, dropping the amulet as he tried to hold into the black, and looked towards their attacker in shock.

A blast of lightning met the acid, and crackled around them as the large bronze slammed into Vutia, talons scrabbling to tear at her underbelly as the metallic’s wings flapped powerfully to keep in the air.

Vutia let out a roar of pain, but moved forward to try and bite at the bronze’s throat. Aurixel just helt on tightly to Vutia, not sure what to do. He needed to consentrate to use magic! He couldn’t do that while riding on a fighting dragon!

The large bronze pulled away, kicking at Vutia before the black could grasp her neck, and she soared into the air, wheeling around for another attack. She didn’t have that much air fighting experience, but she was counting on this young black’s having none at all fighting a metallic, as they had been centuries at ‘peace’. “Release my DragonLord!” Leria commanded, glaring at Aurixel, before preparing another blast of lighting.

Aurixel was shocked at what he heard “The Demi… is your dragonlord?” He looked back at Bast but his mind was brought back to holding onto Vutia when the black flew back a little, ready to keep fighting as she sent out another attack of acid towards the bronze. Aurixel shook his head, “Vutia stop we need to-” “I don’t take orders from you bori so shut up!” She snapped back at him, part of her ready to just force him off of her and drop towards the far away ground.

Leria managed to dodge the acid and let loose with her own breath weapon, boring down on the smaller black once more. She was fighting to kill. She could not let this dragon report that a metallic had breached the treaty.

Vutia flew back to dodge the lightning, but was struggling to keep this fight up, she had never fought a metalic before! This wasn’t suposto happen! She tried again to attack Leria with a breath of acid while trying to gain more distance from the bronze. “Vutia stop! Your going to end up killed!” Aurixel argued, looking towards Leria “I’ll release the Demi if you let us go!” He called to her, to be quickly answered by the black dragon as a “NO! We are not going to do that you coward!”

Leria shied away from the acid, but some spattered on her scales. She roared in pain and attacked the black, jaws going for the smaller neck, claws once more racking at the other’s chest, trying this time to cut off the harness straps keeping Aurixel on Vutia’s back.

Vutia smirked a little as she heard Leria’s cry of pain but her smirk didn’t last long as she was attacked again by the bronze and it was her turn to roar out from pain. She didn’t take much notice to where Leria was aiming her attack and soon the straps of the harness broke apart, much to Aurixel’s horror. “Vutia! Move back hurry!” He called out, struggling to hold on now in the air as the harness started to fall from the black. The dragon didn’t seem to hear him (or maybe didn’t care, Either was possible) and she just tried to breath acid on the metalic while she was close. Vutia knew she was losing this fight, but if she could kill this bronze along with her she would be happy.

Leria felt acid spray across her back, but she kept her grip on Vutia’s throat, biting down hard and wranching her massive head from side to side, claws leaving gouges in the black’s belly.

Vutia let out a roar of pain, by now losing a lot of blood but still trying to fight on. The harness finally fell completely, dropping Aurixel from the dragon’s back falling towards the ground and away from the two fighting dragons. The bubble containing Bast fell down with Aurixel, made to keep close to the creator.

Leria managed to notice Bast falling, and this was the only reason she let go of Vutia’s neck, tearing back and pushing away from the dragon, trying to bash her into the nearby mountain before plunging down after Bast. She caught the bubble in one clawed hand and grasped Aurixel in the other.

Vutia was getting weaker by now, and she was pushed into the mountian with a roar of pain. Aurixel looked up in shock as he saw the metalic flying towards him, trying to think of some kind of attack but his mind drew a blank and he couldn’t stop the bronze from grabbing him. Once Leria grabbed the bubble holding Bast it shattered, releasing the kankiru.

Leria held on to both smaller beings as she landed on the ground, gently putting the unconscious Bast on the ground, but keeping a firm grip on Aurixel. She turned to see how the black was faring as she recovered her breath, bleeding from various gashes Vutia had managed to tear in her own belly, and her back an ugly mass of molten scales due to the acid.

Vutia was struggling to recover atleast a little, looking towards Leria angerly, but she was now ready to run from this fight, and report that a bronze had attacked her. Spreading her wings she tired to quickly fly off, not caring about leaving Aurixel behind.

“Looks like your companion doesn’t care much about you.” Leria said, still holding on to Aurixel she launced herself after Vutia, letting loose a volley of lightning at the black’s back.

Aurixel couldn’t help but chuckle a little “Companion? I don’t think she would mind killing me herself.” He muttered, not fighting agenst the bronze’s grip. Vutia struggled to dodge the lightning, but it hit her one wing directly, and she dropped towards the ground.

“Well, can’t have her reporting back to the other chromatics.” She muttered, flying over Vutia and unleashing more lighting at the fallen black.

Vutia let out another roar of pain, this one more shrill then the ones before as she was attacked from behind, collapsing to the ground. Aurixel winced as he heard Vutia, looking away and closing his eyes.

Leria smirked, and slammed down on top of Vutia.

Vutia struggled from under Leria, but was to weak to do much of anything besides looking up at the bronze angerly.

Leria looked back with hatred. “You won’t live to speak of this.” She said, and jumped off Vutia as she let out her breath onto he mountain ledge above the black. As Leria ascended into the sky, part of the mountain slid and rumbled, large boulders tumbling down towards the fallen dragon.

Vutia couldn’t do anything to stop Leria, and it didn’t take long for the black to be lost from sight under the falling rocks.
